2019-20 NCAA Football (Week 6)

Games I watched some of:
(7) Auburn 13-24 (10) Florida
Man, the 1st half of this game was some of the sloppiest football I've seen in ages: dumb penalties, weird turnovers, big plays out of bad defense. Felt like Auburn would settle in and dominate (not so much), then it felt like Florida was gonna ride the raucous crowd to a runaway (nope, not that either). Auburn had their chance late but they threw an INT and then gave up an improbable 90 yard TD to seal it for the Gators. I can't help thinking that Auburn should've won this...but they didn't. Props to the Gators, if they win at LSU next week then they're in the conversation. Auburn still has LSU, Alabama and Georgia on the schedule, so it doesn't get any easier for them.

Cal 7-17 (13) Oregon
Wasn't expecting a sludgefest but both of these offenses struggled to move the ball. Strangely I was more impressed with Oregon than I thought I would be considering how sclerotic their offense was but they played hard and smart down the stretch and didn't gack it up, good W.

(14) Iowa 3-10 (19) Michigan
Now this was a sludegfest that I expected. Michigan had one good drive and that was about it, neither team could move forward at all (though to be fair Michigan did miss a ton of FG attempts, so they did move a little bit). Felt like the Hawkeyes were gonna steal it late but then their offense turned into a penalty machine and it killed the last hope of momentum. Can't say that Michigan blew me away but they did what they needed to do, so good W. Iowa had a shot at a big win and they just couldn't pull it off.

Top 25
Handled their business
(3) Georgia, (4) Ohio State, (5) Louisiana State, (6) Oklahoma, (8) Wisconsin, (9) Notre Dame, (10) Florida, (11) Texas, (12) Penn State, (13) Oregon, (16) Boise State, (19) Michigan, (24) SMU

Not so good
(15) Washington. Another week, another L for a ranked Pac-12 squad. Stanford was not looking good so far either, this is not good for UW.
(18) Central Florida. Hmm, for the last few years UCF has had an offense that piles on points once it gets going but apparently it didn't get going this week.  Thought Cincy on a Friday night was a winnable game.
(21) Oklahoma State. Yeah, but #20-#25 is just to add some hype to the upcoming games, right? None of those teams are really meant to be considered 'ranked', are they?

Bad beat
(7) Auburn. I think they should've won this game but they blew their chance down the stretch and gave up a flukey 90 yard TD run. I like the QB but he is a freshman.
(14) Iowa. Up against a tough D in a conference game on the road...would've looked good on the resume. Tough way to go.

Next week's interesting matches
(6) Oklahoma @ (11) Texas (here we go, pretty much the game of the year so far, right?)
(1) Alabama @ (24) Texas A&M (A&M has bedeviled Bama over the years, but I got a feeling this ain't gonna be one of those years)
Michigan State @ (8) Wisconsin (seems like Sparty is done...which is when they get dangerous, got a feeling this'll be a fun game)
Southern Cal @ (9) Notre Dame (one of Notre Dame's highest profile games of the year, great opportunity to pile it on...or get upset)
(10) Penn State @ (17) Iowa (I should care about this game but I kinda don't)
(7) Florida @ (5) LSU (I thought the Gators would lose last week, even more convinced they'll lose this week)
