Wimbledon Finals

Federer over Nadal was one of the finest tennis matches I've ever seen. Nadal looked spry early on pushing Federer to the 1st set tiebreak, a weakness of Federer's. But Federer held on nicely only to be broken early in the 2nd set. Nadal squeezed him dry and pushed Federer to a 3rd set tiebreak. I thought Federer had him after that 3rd set. I was pretty shocked when Nadal broke him again in the 4th and then again and it looked like we really had the makings of a classic. Then Nadal had knee troubles in the 4th but I thought it was more his mind than his knee. Contrary to McEnroe's supposition that he was looking free quick points, I kept looking for Nadal to get into long rallies, to run and play on that knee to get some confidence in it. Look, man, he's up 2 breaks in the 4th in the Wimbledon Finals, he's got to play through whatever pain he's feeling. Nadal almost had Federer early but Federer composed himself and pulled ahead like a champion in the 5th, cementing his dominance at Wimbledon by exposing a hint of vulnerability and then playing right past it.

This was totally captivating tennis from beginning to end, they dueled back and forth like the old days. I look forward to seeing these 2 again in the French and Wimbledon next year.
